Esta sección aporta información relacionada con los problemas relativos al nombre de dominio de varias universidades. La mayoría de los problemas encontrados se deben al mantenimiento de al menos dos dominios diferentes para la misma institución, lo cual hace disminuir de forma muy significativa la visibilidad y el impacto de sus contenidos. Por razones metodológicas, sólo se recogen los indicadores web para el dominio más grande (que en algunos casos no es siquiera el principal). Esto conlleva una penalización importante en el Ranking. Mantener dominios duplicados es una mala práctica y debería evitarse.

Note 1. University of Toronto. The domain toronto.edu is used jointly with utoronto.ca

Note 2. Johns Hopkins University. The important Faculty of Medicine is under a completely different domain (hopkinsmedicine.org, not jhu.edu)

Note 3. University of Helsinki. The domain helsinki.edu is shared with the City Hall

Note 4. Lund University. The Lund Institute of Technology belongs to Lund University, but it maintains a completely independent web domain

Note 5. Campus de Jussieu Paris. Under the large domain jussieu.fr there are pages from Paris 6, Paris 7, CNRS and other institutions

Note 6. Kansas State University. The new domain k-state.edu is less used than the old one ksu.edu

Note 7. Technische Universitat Munchen. The central portal, mainly directed to students, has its own different domain (mytum.de). But now most of the information came from tum.de or even from the older tu-muenchen.de

Note 8. Universitat Zurich. Two different domains are used by this university (unizh.ch and uzh.ch)

Note 9. Ludwig Maximilians Universitat München. The domain lmu.edu is stealing links to uni-muenchen.de

Note 10. Imperial College. The main domain imperial.ac.uk is still smaller than the old one ic.ac.uk

Note 11. Northeastern University. The new neu.edu domain is slowly becoming the main one for this University

Note12. Universitat de Barcelona. Although the central domain is ub.edu, a large number of pages and papers are still under ub.es

Note 13. Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya. The domain upc.es is bigger than upc.edu

Note 14. University of Nottingham. A few thousands web pages are still under nott.ac.uk

Note 15. Case Western Reserve University. The domain changed recently to case.edu but there are still important pages with the old one cwru.edu

Note 16. Technische Universitat Braunschweig. Another change in German universities: tu-bs and tu-braunschweig

Note 17. University of Exeter. Two domains, the smaller domain is exeter.ac.uk

Note 18. Lund Institute of Technology Lund University. Part of the Lund University, with a different web domain

Note 19. Universitat Pompeu Fabra. The main domain upf.edu is less commonly used tan upf.es

Note 20. Instituto Superior Tecnico. This important Portuguese institution has no independent web domain (ist.utl.pt)

Note 21. Cardiff University. It is difficult to point out which is the main institutional domain (cardiff.ac.uk, cf.ac.uk)

Note 22. Tecnologico de Monterrey. An international domain (itesm.edu) is now used jointly with the Mexican one (itesm.mx)

Note 23. Queen Mary University of London. Although the main web domain is qmul.ac.uk there are still many pages with qmw.ac.uk

Note 24. University of Reading. The domain reading.ac.uk still accounts for a significant fraction of the total number of web pages

Note 25. Johannes Kepler Universitat Linz. It is not possible to choose the main domain between jku.at and uni-linz.ac.at

Note 26. University of Sussex. Two domains are still commonly used for this organization

Note 27. Wageningen University & Research Centre. The Dutch domain wageningenuniversiteit.nl refers to contents also named under wur.nl & wau.nl

Note 28. State University of New York. All SUNY colleges have their own independent domains

Note 29. Tokyo University of Science. An international domain (itesm.edu) is now used jointly with the Mexican one (itesm.mx)

Note 30. Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. Domain ended in .edu is the most popular, but the one ended in .es is still in use

Note 31. University of Bradford. Both domains (brad.ac.uk & Bradford.ac.uk) are commonly used for this organization

Note 32. Ecole Normale Superieure de Lyon. The new .eu domain is used by the main web site but most of the pages are still under ens-lyon.fr domain

Note 33. Saint Petersburg State University. A lot of websites still use the old domain (pu.ru) instead the new one (spbu.ru)

Note 34. Universitat de Girona. Two main domains are used (udg.es & udg.edu) for their web sites

Note 35. Universita degli Studi Di Trieste. Two different web domains are used (units.it, univ.trieste.it)

Note 36. Sabanci University. Apparently sabanciuniv.edu and sabanciuniv.edu.tr give access to the same web contents

Note 37. Beijing (Northern) Jiaotong University. Change of names also means changes in the domains: bjtu.edu.cn and njtu.edu.cn

Note 38. Thomas Jefferson University. Tju.edu and jefferson.edu

Note 39. Université Paris 4 Sorbonne. The University has recently changed it domain and the process is not yet finished

Note 40. Tokyo Metropolitan University. The University has two large domains: metro-u.ac.jp and tmu.ac.jp

Note 41. Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Campinas. Pages from this university can be recovered from these domains puccamp.br and puc-campinas.edu.br

Note 42. Universita Politecnica delle Marche. A small number of pages are still under the domain unian.it

Note 43. Western Connecticut State University. Duplicate access: wcsu.edu or westconn.edu

Note 44. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Several Indian universities are using indistinctly ernet.in and ac.in in their URL addresses

Note 45. Indonesian University of Education. National (upi.ac.id) and international? (upi.edu) domains

Note 46. Universite de La Mediterranee Aix Marseille II. A very complex situation, with a main domain (univmed.fr), but other two still frequently used (mediterranee.univ-mrs.fr, univ-aix.fr)

Note 47. Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Another example of Indian university using indistinctly ernet.in and ac.in in their URL addresses (iitkgp)

Note 48. Izmir Institute of Technology. Iyte.edu.tr & iztech.edu.tr

Note 49. Universite du Quebec Abitibi-Temiscamingue. One web domain is independent (uquat.ca), the other is not (uquat.uqebec.ca)

Note 50. Pedagogical University of Cracow. The two involved addresses are ap.krakow.pl and wsp.krakow.pl

Note 51. Universidade Federal de Pelotas. Ufpel.edu.br, but also upfel.tche.br

Note 52. Technical University of Czestochowa. Pcz.czest.pl, but also pcz.pl

Note 53. University of Debrecen Medical School and Health Science Center. Dote.hu, but also deoec.hu

Note 54. Lansing Community College. One of the largest US Community College uses two different domains: lansing.cc.mi.us, lcc.edu

Note 55. Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation. There are two web domains involved: aanet.ru and guap.ru

Note 56. Bohai University. Probably two language related different domains: bhu.edu.cn and jznu.edu.cn

Note 57. Kaplan University. Kaplan.edu and the probably different kucampus.edu

Note 58. Hiroshima Institute of Technology. Hirokoudai.jp is the older one, being the recent one it-hiroshima.ac.jp

Note 59. Deutsche Hochschule fur Verwaltungswissenschaften Speyer. hfv-speyer.de or dhv-speyer.de

Note 60. Islamic University of Gaza. Iugaza.edu & iugaza.edu.ps
