The 3^rd edition of the International Conference & Workshop was a very practically oriented event. The aim was not only to introduce a new ranking or development but to inform the end-users how to improve their performance, what is the impact of good practices and what are the advantages of long-term strategies. A ranking should be informative and useful and it is important to provide ethical guidance for a correct representation of the overall university and all its missions.

     The conference started at 09:30 of October the 4^th, 2011 with the introductory welcoming words by Prof. Luis Sanz, Director of the Institute of Public Goods and Policies (IPP-CCHS-CSIC).
